Social Studies News

Greetings!  We are off to a wonderful start to the school year!  I wanted to make everyone aware that I have shared the Middle East coach book with all students as well as the 7th grade social studies glossary in Google Drive.  Both of these are great study resources for students.  Reading the sections in the coach book that match the standards we covered that day or week is a great way to reinforce what we doing in the classroom.  I am looking forward to a great year.

Science News

Science on Team Kani is amazing!  Students are learning about the Earth's interdependence of biotic and abiotic factors while traveling through the Earth's terrestrial and aquatic biomes.  Students are creating mini-books that highlight key facts about each biome.  

Quizzes and homework in Science class are due every Friday.  If we are in school on a Friday, students will take a Quiz and will be expected to turn in a weekly maintenance sheet.  

Each week students receive a copy of the classroom lessons and presentations in Google Classroom.  This is a fantastic way for students to have access to the lessons and resources.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently.
