Math News


This week in Math we continue Unit 2 Ratios & Proportional Relationships. All daily presentations are posted in google classroom.

Monday: Ratios of side lengths. Homework sheet assigned.  
Tuesday: Using ratios of side lengths to determine similarity
Wednesday: Using similarity to find unknown measurements
Thursday: Check Up Quiz and Math Reflection
Friday: Analyzing comparison statements. Vocabulary TIP Chart due in google classroom. Homework sheet due.

 Students who make a grade below 100% are expected to correct their wrong answers and re-submit for partial credit for all assignments except vocabulary tests and some on-line assessments. Corrections can be done during homeroom, ELT, lunch or after-school. Students must have their homeroom, ELT or lunch teacher's permission. Arrangements for after school must be made in advance. Students are to be picked up by 5pm.

Exciting News!
The trout eggs in our classroom are transitioning to alevin stage.  The students are enjoying watching them learn how to swim!  

 Our chrysalises have all metamorphosized into butterflies.  We successfully raised 6 Gulf Fritillary butterflies.








Social Studies

This week in social studies we will be beginning Unit 2 Middle East Government and Economics.  The Unit 1 common assessment grades are in Infinite Campus and have impacted students' averages tremendously.  Unit 1 folders are due Tuesday and will be points added into the summative category.  We will be having our third Geography vocabulary quiz on Friday.  The words will be linked below.  Continue to use the Middle East coachbook as a study resource because it addresses the standards directly.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual.
