Social Studies

This week in social studies we will be wrapping up Unit 3 Middle East History. This week our focus will be over the two wars in Iraq, 9/11, the War on Terror, and the war in Afghanistan. Study guides will be going on this week and will be due next week before the Unit 3 common assessment for a homework grade. Friday will be a retake day to retake the Unit 2 common assessment as well as make up any quizzes that students may have missed due to absences. I have re-linked the Unit 2 study guide for the retake and students still have a completed version in their google classroom. I have given many opportunities for extra credit and very few students are taking advantage of these opportunities. I am asking for your assistance in encouraging students to take advantage of all extra credit chances. Remember TIP Charts will add points back to weekly vocabulary quizzes but I will not accept them late due to the fact that it is extra credit and they have a full school week to complete them. Retaking the unit common assessments that students did not do well on is also a great opportunity to improve their grade in the class. Remember the Middle East coach book that is shared in google classroom is a great resource to reinforce what we are doing in class. The Unit 3 common assessment will be next week. Thank you for your support!

Math News

This week in Math we continue Unit 3 Expressions & Equations.

Monday: Generating Equivalent Expressions Task. HW assigned (2 hrs of Waggle).
Tuesday: Distributive Property Quiz.
Wednesday: Field Trip
Thursday: Finding and Using Walking Rates
Friday: Tables, Graphs, and EquationsHomework Due

WAGGLE: Students are expected to complete at least 2 hours per week in order to get full credit for their weekly homework grade. Students who do not meet this requirement will be given a grade of 55. Students can make up that grade by doing additional time another week. Please encourage your child to spend at least 30 minutes each night completing their assignments.

Students who make a grade below 100% are expected to correct their wrong answers and re-submit for partial credit for all assignments except vocabulary tests and some on-line assessments. Corrections can be done during homeroom, ELT, lunch or after-school. Students must have their homeroom, ELT or lunch teacher's permission. Arrangements for after school must be made in advance. Students are to be picked up by 5pm.

Parents please check Campus regularly and monitor your child's grades and assignment completion. Assignments with a grade 55 and NHI in the comment box means that assignment was Not Handed In. Email me at baldwink@clarke. k12.ga.us for questions, comments and concerns.

Extra Credit
Students who reach 50% completion with a grade 70 or higher on MobyMax State Test Prep by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 4th will receive extra credit for the 2nd marking period.
