Math News

This week in Math we wrap up Unit 3 Expressions & Equations. 

Monday: Equations & Inequalities. HW assigned (2 hrs of Waggle). 
Tuesday: Solving Equations 
Wednesday: Check Up Quiz, Study Guide Posted in Google Classroom due Monday, 14th
Thursday: Writing and Interpreting Inequalities. 
Friday: Unit 3 Review for Test Next Week. Homework Due

Important Dates: 
Monday, December 14th - Unit 3 Vocabulary Test and Study Guide Due 
Tuesday, December 15th - Unit 3 Test
Friday, December 18th - End of 2nd Marking Period
Tuesday, January 5th - ALL MISSING ASSIGNMENTS, CORRECTIONS, WAGGLE HOURS & EXTRA CREDIT DUE by 5 p.m!!!

WAGGLE: Students are expected to complete at least 2 hours per week in order to get full credit for their weekly homework grade. Students who do not meet this requirement will be given a grade of 55. Students can make up that grade by doing additional time another week. Please encourage your child to spend at least 30 minutes each night completing their assignments. 

Students who make a grade below 100% are expected to correct their wrong answers and re-submit for partial credit for all assignments except vocabulary tests and some on-line assessments. Corrections can be done during homeroom, ELT, lunch or after-school. Students must have their homeroom, ELT or lunch teacher's permission. Arrangements for after school must be made in advance. Students are to be picked up by 5pm.  

Parents please check Campus regularly and monitor your child's grades and assignment completion. Assignments with a grade 55 and NHI in the comment box means that assignment was Not Handed In. Email me at baldwink@clarke. k12.ga.us for questions, comments and concerns. 

Extra Credit
Students who reach 50% completion with a grade 70 or higher on MobyMax State Test Prep by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5th will receive extra credit for the 2nd marking period. 



Social Studies

This week in social studies we will continue with Unit 4 Asia Geography. This is one of our blended learning units and is very much student/self paced. It will be very important that students stay on top of their assignments. There are two tickets to be completed in class and both are summative grades. Students will take a vocabulary quiz on Friday over the their second list of History words. Thank you for your support.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. This is because much of Monday will be spent going over new rules and procedures with our face-to-face students as we get used to returning to the building.
