Team Kani News: December 5-9, 2016

English/Language Arts News
As we are nearing the end of the 2nd 9 weeks, we are continuing our novel reading of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. This week and the following before Winter Break, we will examine literary techniques such as characterization, themes, and plot development throughout the novel. We will have a summative assessment over the novel in the near term.

Please continue to check Parent Portal for updates on your child's progress, and encourage your child to turn in his/her work for all classes on time! Now is the time for all of the missing work to be completed so that there is adequate time for grading assignments and entering grades.

Social Studies News

This week we will be continuing Unit 4 Asia Geography.  This is our first Asia unit and students will be using the blended learning model.  With this model the unit assignments are uniquely tailored to each student but it also puts more emphasis on the students being self-directed.  With that said if students want to be successful during this unit they must complete the work on their tickets and pace themselves accordingly.  On Thursday we will be taking the Asia physcial map quiz which is linked below. Also if your child is participating in Social Studies Fair the project due date is fast approaching om December 9th.  It is very important that students are using their ELT time as well as time at home working on their project.  The Middle East and Asia coach books in the ABOUT section of google classroom can be a helpful study resource.  Thank you for your support!
