ELA News

We have gotten off to a great start during the first week of school learning campus and classroom procedures. During our second week of school, we will begin studying Science Fiction and Fantasy narratives.

The ELA Class Syllabus was sent home with your child last week on Wednesday, Aug. 9th.  If you have not seen the class syllabus, please ask your child about it. The syllabus has information about the class and my contact information should you need to reach me. At the bottom of the syllabus is a parent signature form that needs to be completed and returned as soon as possible. Thank you!

Students need their Science Notebook (Composition Book) in class with them each day.

Math News
We are off to a great start as we began Unit 1.  Students are learning about positive and negative numbers with the help of number lines.  Students will receive their first homework assignment Tuesday and it will be due on Thursday. 
We will also be having our first quiz on Wednesday. 
Students will be given their laptops this week. Having said this, we will hopefully begin using Waggle as our weekly homework assignment. Students will be expected to complete 2 hours of "Waggle time" each week. More info to come. As always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. 


Social Studies News

Welcome to 7th Grade Social Studies where we study the Eastern Hemisphere specifically Asia, Africa, and the Middle East!  Please have students sign the syllabus and bring in a composition book that will be left in class all year.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. This is because much of Monday will be spent going over new rules and procedures with our face-to-face students as we get used to returning to the building.
