21st CCLC Report Card

21st CCLC meets every day before school from 7:00-8:00 am and Monday through Thursdays afterschool from 4:00-6:00 pm.  If you have questions about the program, please contact Mrs. Dalton or Ms. Hughes.

ELA News

Monday: No School

Wednesday: Argumentative Essay Planning
Thursday: Guided Reading
Friday: Fall Break
***Students have a 30 minute per night reading log. 
RL1: Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
RL2: Determine a theme and/or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text.
L2: Analyze the main ideas and supporting details presented in diverse media and formats and explain how the ideas clarify a topic, text, or issue under study.

Science News

This is the 2nd week of Unit 2!

Friday:  Digestive System 

***We need straws, Q-tips, and dry pasta noodles for the Skeletal System models that we are making on Tuesday.  Please send in any of these items that you can spare.

Math News
We hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. While this school week is short, we have a lot to cover in math classes. This entire week will be spent reviewing for our upcoming Unit 2 TEST. On Tuesday, we will cover our last Unit 2 topic, sales tax. The following two days will be spent reviewing all topics covered over the past 5 weeks. Having said this, homework for this week will be the Unit 2 STUDY GUIDE. Each student should have access to the study guide and is expected to have it completed by Thursday in order to actively participate in the class review session. 

Our learning schedule this week:
Monday: NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS 
Tuesday: Sales Tax
Friday: UNIT 2 TEST!!!

Social Studies News

This is a busy week for students, with several assignments due based on their work from the last few weeks. We are finishing the final two chapters of A Long Walk to Water on Tuesday. They have been writing each day about A Long Walk to Water (test grade) and there is a quiz over the novel on Wednesday. Students will check their study guide on Wednesday and receive the answer key. The Unit 3 Table of Contents and Starters are also due on Friday. The unit 3 test is on Friday, November 3. Students in Silver house will take the test on Friday during their connections class.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual.
