Math News
We hope everyone enjoyed their snow break! As we come back this week, we will push back our schedule from this past week. Having said this, we will be wrapping up Unit 3 with a review day on Monday and have our Unit 3 Test on Tuesday. Our current plan is to begin Unit 4 on Wednesday. Students will be given ample time in class to review and prepare for their Unit 3 Test. This past week, we reviewed inequalities and combining like-terms. Please check back for any potential changes with our current plan. Thanks for your support!

Social Studies News

Students are learning about the modern history of the Middle East (about 1900-present) and focusing on how land and religion are sources of conflict. This week students are learning about the Iran-Iraq War (1980s), Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and 9/11. Students will get a study guide for the Unit 5 test, which will be on February 1.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. This is because much of Monday will be spent going over new rules and procedures with our face-to-face students as we get used to returning to the building.
