ELA News

Students have started their Writing Workshop unit, and they are on their way to becoming published authors! Next week, we are working on coming up with our first story idea, creating realistic scenes and characters, and creating a story arc of our first story! Be sure to check out your student's writing journal if they have it to see what story they are creating!

Math News

This week we will continue our work in Stretching and Shrinking and build on what it means for shapes to be similar. We will begin by identifying similar shapes and identifying scale factors, and using that information to build toward identifying missing side lengths of similar figures.

Accelerated Math:
This week students will develop understanding and skills in working with the angles formed when parallel lines are cut by traversals. A special application of this principle is represented in the fact that opposite angles of any parallelogram are congruent and adjacent angles are supplementary.

They will be reading a short play about Lawrence of Arabia, examining how European countries partitioned the Middle East without consulting the people who lived there, and learning about the events before and after Israel became a country in 1948.

Also, on Tuesday students will go over the unit 1 test from last week and learn about the retake process. To retake a test, students will need to complete a retake form (get it from your social studies teacher) and sign up for a retake. Retakes will take place on October 1.
