Hilsman Administration
General Information
While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful:
Meal Service for CCSD Students
Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (March 30th-April 1st) will be the same operation that has been running already:

  • Drive-thru service at Hilsman and Oglethorpe from 8:00am-12:00pm
  • Bus Delivery service in select neighborhoods - Check website or online map for neighborhoods

However, beginning this Thursday, April 2nd, services will change to twice a week. For this Thursday, April 2nd:

  • Drive-thru service at Hilsman and Chase Street Elementary from 10:00am-12:00pm
    • Distribute bulk food items to last kids through Thursday AND Friday
  • Bus Delivery service in select neighborhoods - Check website or online map for neighborhoods
Starting Monday, April 6th:

  • Drive-thru service at Hilsman and Chase Street Elementary from 10:00am-12:00pm
    • Distribute bulk food items on Monday to last kids until Wednesday
  • Bus Delivery service in select neighborhoods - Check website or online map for neighborhoods
From then on, meal services will run on Mondays and Thursdays only. Our district has an updated list of food resources available to our families and staff during this period of school closure and the "shelter in place" ordinance enacted by the Athens-Clarke County government.

 Academics
Our school closure has recently been extended through April 24th. This week teachers will begin introducing new content. When this begins this week , it will be extra important for students to attend their Zoom sessions! These are excellent chances for students to ask questions about their work, to review, play games, or simply just catch up. We miss our students dearly and Zoom has proven to be a great way to stay connected!

Panther Support
Every single student has been assigned a Staff Support who will be reaching out to every family every week! Because we are in this together, please do not hesitate to ask for help, share concerns, or simply vent. We are stronger together and we are here to help. We want to support our students and families in any way that we can, so please let us know what you need!

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Service will begin Tuesday, March 17.  Service Guidelines  To ensure the safety of all our students, we request the following guidelines be followed: 1. Students must be present to get their meals.  2. At this time, adult meals are not available for purchase.  3. Students must take the entire meal – choices will not be provided.  4. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. This is because much of Monday will be spent going over new rules and procedures with our face-to-face students as we get used to returning to the building. New Schedule Now that some students are returning to the building, the class schedule is changing to reflect a more typical school day
