Just a reminder: students will earn a numerical grade in each class based on their completed assignments! Classes are not Pass/Fail like they were in the spring. PLEASE reach out to your child's teacher if you have any concerns.

Announcements: 

Students Will be Testing on i-Ready next week!

Students will be taking the iReady test Monday-Thursday in Science and Social Studies (first 30 minutes of class). Please remind students to try their best, take the test with no assistance, and keep their cameras on. The information we get from the tests will not be used for a grade but to better understand where they are at currently! Be on the lookout for more information!

Remember: Fridays are virtual!
Students will have no specific class times for Friday. Students will check in with their teacher if they need one-on-one support and use the day to catch up on classwork!

How can I stay updated?

  1. Check your email. We will use Campus Messenger to email parents/guardians all school-wide announcements. Follow these directions to sign up:

Check Google Classroom for class announcements.

 

How can I support my student?

You are the most important person in helping your student succeed, and we want you to partner with us so we can help students be as successful as possible.

  • Help your student establish a routine that includes a consistent bedtime wake up time. 

  • Help them establish a consistent place to work during class with a table/desk. 

  • Help your student find a consistent place for school materials so they always know where their materials are. Help them organize their materials and/or papers for each class.

  • Headphones will be very helpful if there is more than one student attending class.

AT&T offers internet service for $10 or less per month. You can apply online at www.att.com/internet/access. Email or call the school if you have any questions or needs.

March 16, 2020 Parents Guide to Google Classroom  link Hilsman Cyber Days Letter to Parents and Students   Hilsman Administration School closed Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20. More details as we received them from the Clarke County District Superintendent Meals for Students — The Clarke County School District will provide free meals to students during the closure caused by the COVID-19 virus. The district will offer meals for pick up at two school sites as well as neighborhood hubs. Students will receive a breakfast and lunch meal. Monday, March 23, 2020 2020 Week 10. March 30, 2020 Hilsman Administration General Information While our school is closed, school will continue from home. We have implemented distance learning throughout the district, in which our students and staff will continue school virtually from home. For full details on how these Cyber Days will work, we hope the following links will be helpful: Panther Cyber Days One-Stop Shop (a slideshow containing all relevant info regarding assignments, schedules, meal services, laptops/WiFi, contact info, etc.) Meal Service for CCSD Students Meals for students will continue during our school closure. Announcements:  Students Return Face-to-Face This Week! K-8 students will begin in-person instruction starting Monday November 9th, with families also having the option to remain virtual. Below are a few helpful links to check out with regards to our reopening: - CCSD Weekly Update - posted 11/6 - CCSD Reopening Information FAQ - posted 10/30 - CCSD Reopening Info tab (contains all documents and updates from the school district) - Hilsman Town Hall Nov. 5th Slideshow Asynchronous Work Day for Virtual Students on Monday 11/9 There will be no Zoom classes for virtual students on Monday -- instead, teachers will post asynchronous assignments on Google Classroom for students to work on independently. This is because much of Monday will be spent going over new rules and procedures with our face-to-face students as we get used to returning to the building.
