Students can make up that grade by doing additional time another week. Please encourage your child to spend at least 30 minutes each night completing their assignments.

Students who make a grade below 100% are expected to correct their wrong answers and re-submit for partial credit for all assignments except vocabulary tests and some on-line assessments. Vocabulary tests can be re-taken during ELT. Corrections can be done during homeroom, ELT, lunch or after-school. Students must have their homeroom, ELT or lunch teacher's permission. Arrangements for after school must be made in advance. Students are to be picked up by 5pm.

Parents please check Campus regularly and monitor your child's grades and assignment completion. Assignments with a grade 55 and NHI in the comment box means that assignment was Not Handed In. Email me at baldwink@clarke. k12.ga.us for questions, comments and concerns.

Social Studies

This week in social studies will be continuing in Unit 7 Africa geography. Retakes for all three unit exams given this 9 weeks will administered on the computer.  The study guides for these exams with answers are still linked in the blog and posted in Google classroom. Continuing to use the Africa coach book and other resources posted in google classroom to reinforce what we are doing in class will be very beneficial.  Thank you for your support!

Language Arts News

This week,  we will allow some class time for "credit recovery," allowing students to make up test assignments and make up failed quizzes.  Since Parent Portal is closed right now, ask your child if I have given them any makeup work or retake assignments.

Students will continue reading A Long Walk to Water, an engrossing story of two children in the Sudan.  One is a Nuer tribe girl who must walk eight hours a day for her family.  The other is a Dinka "Lost Boy," one of thousands of young boys who were separated by war from their families and who must struggle to survive and avoid being drafted as child soldiers..

Some students have already completed reading the book.  They will have time for silent reading of their own choice and/or enrichment activities.

REMEMBER THE OUTSIDERS FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL?
This story is one of the most popular books I have ever taught; hardly anyone who reads the book doesn't like it.  Ask your child to tell you daily what's happening each night.  We start this wonderful adventure next week.

Social Studies

This week in social studies will be continuing in Unit 7 Africa geography. Our focus this week will be on environment issues in Africa and how they affect the people that live there.  Continuing to use the Africa coach book and other resources posted in google classroom to reinforce what we are doing in class will be very beneficial.  On Friday students will take their fourth economics vocabulary quiz.  This will be their first grade of the 4th 9 weeks.  The vocabulary word list is linked below.  Thank you for your support!
