English/Language Arts News
This week, we will wrap up our writing project on the research of different groups who participated in WWII. Students will complete and submit the final draft of their 5 paragraph expository essay on Tuesday, Jan. 24th. The expository essay counts as one of three test grades for the current nine week grading period, so please check with your child to ensure he/she is adequately progressing on finalizing his/her final draft to submit on Tuesday. Students will begin working on a creative mini-project later this week related to the research they completed for their expository essay.

Math News

We are wrapping up Unit 3 this week in math class. On Monday and Tuesday, we will spend time during class reviewing for the Unit 3 Test on Wednesday.
There is a Unit 3 Study Guide posted on Google Classroom that students should complete by Wednesday. The study guide was purposefully made to be more difficult than the test so students will feel confident on Wednesday.
On Thursday, we will begin Unit 4. Unit 4 is all about probability and statistics. Thursday and Friday will be spent introducing probability.

Please continue to check Parent Portal for the latest updates concerning missing assignments and grades.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Social Studies News

This week we will be continuing our last new content of Unit 4 Asia Geography, Asian religions and philosophies.  We will not be using the blended model that we used with the previous two sections of this unit. With that said some students have not turned in their Asia Environment Ticket which was due two weeks ago. Total this ticket accounts for four grades and it is essential that all students get it turned in. This content over Asia religions is foreign to most students and can be quite complex and difficult to understand. To master these standards it is very important students read and complete all assignments and study outside of school. This week our focus is over Buddhism and Shintoism. We will also take our fourth Geography vocabulary quiz. The words are linked below. The  Asia coach book in the ABOUT section of google classroom can be a helpful study resource.  Thank you for your support!

Geography Vocabulary List 4
