Dress down day and Binder checks

Students who have earned between 350-400 points on their binder checks for the month of September will be permitted to be out of uniform this Friday, September 28th. As usual, students out of uniform must still adhere to CCSD/HMS guidelines. The vast majority of our scholars are doing a wonderful job of staying organized - please continue to support your child by ensuring that they continue to have the materials they need to be successful! If you are in need of supplies, please contact Ms. Fassbender (fassbenderc@clarke.k12.ga.us).

Science News

Monday-Thursday = Food Chains, Food Webs, & Energy Flow Within Ecosystems
Friday = Big 10 Quiz #8

Students need a Notebook for Science Work.  The Science Notebook can be a spiral notebook or a composition book.  Science Notebooks will be checked about once a month. The Notebook is not the Binder.  The Notebook is a textbook like resource that students are creating as we learn new content.

Social Studies News

Students are studying the modern history of the Middle East. Last week and this week they are examining the origins of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Students have been reading and analyzing a lot of documents, and many are primary sources.

You can support their hard work by (1) asking details about what they are reading and (2) re-reading some of the documents with them. This is a great way for students to read the required 20-30 minutes for ELA each night. The documents are all located in Google Classroom and listed in this document.

Upcoming dates: Friday, Sept 28 - Quiz on Arab-Israeli conflict
