School Health Services
Hilsman Health Center is now open!
The Hilsman Health Center is now officially open! In order for students to be served, they need to have a parent/guardian fill out a consent form and return it to Nurse Caitlyn. Once the form is returned, we can schedule an appointment. If students have their consent form signed (and on file) and we get verbal permission, our nurses can walk students to the Health Center while they're at school if it's for urgent care (fever, asthma visit, etc.). Otherwise, it operates like a regular doctor's office! They currently do not have a phone number (they're working on it!), but appointments can still be made through the Athens Neighborhood Health Center. They are also taking walk-in visits for the time being!
Have any questions? Send Nurse Caitlyn an email at kurishc@clarke.k12.ga.us.

The Rock-A-Thon is Friday, January 31 from 6:00pm-12:00am! Money is due Friday morning! Hope you can come out to help and watch the students have a blast!
7th graders will be completing multiple projects that utilize the use of a color wheel! They will be creating their own color wheel, and they will be learning about primary and secondary colors and why they are fundamental building blocks of art. This is a great review from 6th grade and it also begins to prepare them for high school if they choose to take art as an elective.

Family and Consumer Science
This week in Family and Consumer Science, students will work to develop employability skills, focusing on resilience, honesty, integrity, time management, and decision-making through some class work and hands-on activities.
Agricultural Science
This week, 8th grade will continue their 2-week "Importance of Agriculture" unit. We will study the history of Agriculture, and how the field has changed in modern times. We will also use class time to plan our Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) projects.
The "Supervised Agriculture Experience" is the only homework assigned to Agriculture students all quarter and counts for 2 summative grades. Students will design and complete a project that relates to agriculture to help themselves, their family, or their community. I will stay after school all semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5 if students would prefer to work on their project at school instead of at home.
Our schools Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter will meet on the first and last Thursday of every month from 4-5, and all Agricultural Science students are encouraged to attend meetings.
Students need to fill out a permission slip to stay after school for SAE workdays or FFA meetings, and are welcome to ride the activity bus home from Hilsman. Please reach out if you have questions, or if you would like to support the school agriculture program in any way.
Thank you,
Greg Brav

Congratulations to both Hilsman basketball teams on the conclusion of great seasons! Huge shout out to Coach Stewart, Coach Maddox, and Coach Burton for putting in so much time and energy to bring out the best in these students both on and off the court. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out this season, whether it was doing behind-the-scenes organization, volunteering at games, coming out to support, or helping student-athletes stay on track to be successful!
