Students will compare and contrast various folktales that they view and read throughout the week. Students will also begin to work on drafting their first informational writing piece this week as we view and read folktales from different cultures around the world. We will continue to read and examine folktales from different parts of the world this next week. Students will take their first test in ELA on Thursday on folktales. We also have our first media center class visit later this week, and we will go to the media center every other week thereafter. General Team News Welcome back to school!   We are excited to meet all of you at  HilFest  on August 6.   HilFest  will take place from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.  At this time, students will meet their teachers and visit numerous booths sponsored by area businesses and organizations. Important Dates Thursday, May 19th - 7th Grade Honors Assembly  beginning at 9:00 am *If you are planning to leave from the Assembly with your child on Thursday, each Team Kani Homeroom teacher will have a Sign-Out Sheet.  Please sign your child out with your child's homeroom teacher. Friday, May 20th - Team Kani Breakfast and Last Day of School - dismissal at 12:30 pm *Team Kani students will celebrate the last day of school with a team breakfast.  Students should have received a list of things to bring from homeroom teachers last week.  If your child did not bring anything home, we will need:  paper products (plates, cups, napkins, flatware), breakfast beverages, packaged breakfast items - like doughnuts, fruit trays, etc.  Due the large number of students on the team with food allergies, all food must be packaged in its original packaging with an ingredient list shown.   Science & Energy Team Fundraiser Night @ Barb...
